The First Day

After lots of texting back and forth with my ex and my brother, I finally settled on the trading platforms to use.  Yes, this decision took me quite a while and let me explain why.  I am a bit paranoid about entering my bank account information and depositing money into a company which is not FDIC insured or resides in another country.  Remember, I hate risks.  I also fear some smart 20-something will hack into a "secure" site and get access to my information and next thing I know, my bank account has been drained.  I keep my money spread across four different banks because I don't like to put all my eggs (or savings) into one basket.

I decided to use Gemini for my first trades.  Gemini was founded by the Winklevoss twins, you know, the twins that claimed Mark Zuckerberg stole their idea for Facebook and won a large settlement from the lawsuit.  First of all, they're quite attractive to look at, and secondly, I am not a fan of Zuckerberg nor do I have a Facebook account, so going with the Winklevoss company seemed like a good bet.

Now, I may get criticized for this, but I received $2800 in stimulus money for being head of household and having a daughter who is still a minor, so this is the money I used to make my first purchases.  I didn't use the entire amount.  I deposited $2700 and bought fractional shares of Bitcoin, Ethereum, and full shares of Chainlink.  I copied my ex, Eric, thinking that if he was able to buy a condo with his profits, he must be making some wise decisions.

Eric and Joey both recommended I buy ADA and DOT, but they weren't available on Gemini, so I waited on these.  Gemini lets me transfer what I own in my trading balance to earn interest on it while I'm holding the coins, but so far, I haven't seen the interest show up after I did the transfer so I'm guessing the interest is only earned every 30 days, we'll see.  Either that, or I'm not doing something right and sooner or later, I'll figure it out.
